She's just trying to help, right?

Many of you know my better half, Hailey. And many of you know subtly is not her forte. In fact, I'm not even 100% sure she even knows what the word means. To illustrate this point, let's go back to last night shall we?

After putting the kids to bed I came downstairs to join Hailey for a little Comcast OnDemand movie action. As I'm standing in the living room fiddling with the remote a quiet question comes from over on the couch.

HAILEY: Can I say something and you won't get mad?

Before I could respond...

HAILEY: You look like you're three months pregnant.

Gee, thanks.

And while I'm being thankful, I'd like to thank you for the pack of Rogaine you got me for Christmas that one year. Also, the nose hair trimmer for my birthday was a nice touch. And yes, yes, yes...the diet officially starts today.

Go fly a kite.

Yesterday was perfect kite flyin' weather here in Colorado. So we took full advantage.

Remember that Tom Hanks movie, Cast Away?

For those of you who haven't seen it, here's the summary. Tom Hanks is a FedEx guy. He gets in a plane crash and ends up stranded alone on a island for years. To keep his sanity, he develops companionship with a Wilson brand volleyball that also survived the crash. Aptly so, he calls it Wilson.

Now, I haven't been in a plane crash. And I'm not stranded on an island. But I have been spending a lot of time on the road lately away from my family. So what do I do for companionship?

I name my rental cars.

Here is my current companion. Her name is Helen.

Helen has been great. She's full of pleasantries but isn't afraid to get her hands dirty if needs be. She's big boned with a sweet spirit.

Some of my previous friends include Clint (black Mustang), Alan (gray Toyota Corolla), Bryan (some sporty red Pontiac), Hoss (large, blue Jeep Commander), and Marv (white PT Cruiser-lookin' thing).

I have a confession.

I really like an Alicia Keys song.

You haven't lived until you've blow'd up a car.

Yesterday, while the rest of the world was going about its business, I done blow'd up a perfectly decent turquoise Dodge Neon. Now, before you go thinking I've dropped off the deep end into the world of drugs, crime, and violence, understand this vehicular destruction came by way of my employment. Perfectly moral. Perfectly legal. It all took place during my latest TV commercial shoot. Check out the video for a quick "Day in the Life" experience. Enjoy.
